About
Nicole Freeman, LMFT • LPCC
Hi, I’m Nicole! When not building rapport with clients, honing my clinical skills, or formulating treatment plans, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters. I adore my 120-pound cane corso, Wolfgang, my French bulldog, Jean Redcorn, and my cat Mordecai Goldman. I am a voracious reader and cannot decide if I love the forest or the desert more.
I am an integrative, depth-oriented therapist whose work sits at the intersection of insight and action.
My clinical foundation is rooted in Depth Psychology and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I integrate Jungian and psychodynamic traditions, existential exploration, trauma-informed work, somatic awareness, and behavioral change strategies in a way that is responsive to each client’s needs in the moment.
Alongside my private practice, I teach graduate-level psychotherapy and counseling courses as an adjunct professor at Antioch University in Santa Barbara. This academic role reflects my commitment to clinical rigor, depth, and the ongoing development of the field.
Why Strawberry Fields?
The name Strawberry Fields Psychotherapy is personal.
I grew up in Ventura, California, where strawberry fields were part of the landscape of my childhood. The name is an homage to the place that shaped me—its fields, coastline, contradictions, and quiet beauty.
It also carries a second meaning: a subtle nod to expanded consciousness, psychedelic exploration, and the possibility of seeing the self and the world differently.
For me, Strawberry Fields evokes both rootedness and transformation. It is earthy and imaginal, familiar and strange—a fitting name for the kind of psychotherapy I believe in: grounded, deep, and open to what has not yet been discovered.
I help insightful, high-functioning clients move from understanding their patterns to creating real change. Together, we identify what maintains emotional and relational cycles and shift them. Integrating DBT (8 yrs), depth work (11 yrs), EMDRIA-certified EMDR, and polyvagal-informed care. I draw from Jungian, existential, somatic, and dialectical approaches, integrating them in a way that is responsive to each client. My foundation in Depth Psychology and DBT allows for both deep exploration and meaningful change—where insight is not just explored, but transformed.

We examine what maintains your patterns—and what it will take to shift them. Some cycles are not managed, but stepped out of—no longer feeding the Ouroboros.

This work is well-suited for individuals who are:
Insightful, reflective, and psychologically minded. High-functioning but internally struggling. Open to being challenged, not just supported. Ready to examine both internal experience and relational patterns. Motivated for change, even when it is uncomfortable
Many of my clients have had prior therapy and are looking for something more direct, integrative, and transformative.
